2020 Central CT Student Writing Project

Good morning!
We hope this message finds you well and that you are finding ways to create and find comfort in the new routines our world has called for.
Due to the ongoing development regarding COVID-19 and the uncertainty that surrounds it, we are unable to hold our regular programming this year. We want to echo the directives from our state, town, and school leadership communities and encourage everyone to be as safe as possible and it has proven impossible to plan, as we are unable to secure dates and locations when we don't know when social distancing practices and stay at home protocols will lift.
However, we are very excited to say that we are in the planning stages of a schedule of digital opportunities to support our writers on their journeys to being authors and storytellers. More information regarding this schedule, including registration, will be available by June 1st.
We will miss being in person with our writers this summer, but we are excited to try something new!
We would like to send you off with a WID- a small writing activity we do daily to start our writing sessions! Erin gives WIDs to her fourth grade class during the school year and she has continued to give them during Distance Learning- some of her students like to save the WID and do it with their families at the dinner table!
Today's WID: Write a list of the first things you'll do as soon as social distancing/ stay at home is lifted! Illustrate some of them! Then share with your family!
Be Well,
Erin Gilbert

Registration is Here!!!

Hello writers and families!

The time has come to put information and registration up for the Central CT Student Writing Project's 2017 program!

This year's program will take place June 26th- July 7th.  Please note, we will not be meeting on Tuesday, July 4th.

During the mornings of BOTH weeks, from 9am-12pm, we will be holding our Creative Writing Program.  Students will have the support of educators and their peers while they work on their own story from beginning to end.  They will then have the opportunity to have their work workshopped and finally published in an anthology at the close of our program.

The afternoons of our first week- June 26- June 30 from 12:30pm-3:30pm, we will be holding our Poetry program.  Students will be exposed to various forms of poetry and other forms of more artistic writing, applying their learning to the writing of their own poetry.  They will have the option of publishing their original work in our anthology at the close of our program.

The afternoons of our second week- July 3- July 7 from 12:30-3:30pm, we will be holding a Daily Workshop program.  Each day, students will experience a different variety of writing and work on several different pieces.  They will have the option of publishing their original work in our anthology at the close of our program.  More information on each day's workshop will be coming soon, but your student can expect to work with more creative styles of writing as well as see the different ways writing can be used to communicate ideas and take action in their world.

You can use this link to access and submit the registration form: CCSWP Registration Form

We are asking that if you are registering more than one student, please complete an individual form for each of them!

Upon receipt of your registration, an email will be sent for confirmation as well as to provide you with information for remitting payment.

We look forward to having your students join us!  As always, please email centralctwp@gmail.com with any and all questions!
